March 4, 2026

On behalf of the Board of Education and staff of USD 270 Plainville, I would like to thank our community for participating in our bond election.

With voter approval of Question One $5,490,000, the district will move forward with critical infrastructure improvements that focus on maintaining and protecting our existing facilities.

These projects include:

  • HVAC replacement

  • Roof replacement

  • Restroom remodels

  • LED lighting upgrades with electrical improvements and new ceiling tile

  • Exterior wall stabilization (3rd–6th grade wing)

These improvements address essential building systems and structural needs that directly impact student safety, operational efficiency, and long-term maintenance costs. The total includes construction, design and bonding fees, FF&E, and contingency funding.

While Question Two was not approved, we respect the will of our community. Improvements related to entrance reconfiguration, program additions, the Rock Gym remodel, and the new storm shelter/weight room will not move forward. The Board and I will evaluate next steps and continue to prioritize safety and fiscal responsibility.

I would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our Bond Committee for their dedication, thoughtful insight, and countless hours of work throughout this process. Their leadership and guidance were instrumental in helping us carefully prioritize the needs of our district while ensuring our community remained informed and engaged.

I would also like to recognize McLaren Armstrong and Vince Haines from Gravity::Works Architecture for their professionalism, expertise, and steady leadership. Their experience helped guide us through each step of this process with clarity and transparency.

When leading a community through a bond proposal, education and open communication are among the most important responsibilities we carry. We are confident that, together, we provided meaningful information to help our community make a well-informed decision for the future of our schools.

We appreciate the trust placed in us and remain committed to transparency and careful oversight as we begin implementation.

"It's a great day to be a Cardinal!"

Sincerely,

Chris Rinehart

Caring for the Schools That Serve Our Community

How USD 270 is planning for reliable, safe, and welcoming school facilities

USD 270 Plainville Public Schools has placed a bond proposition on the March 2026 special election ballot.
This website is intended to provide information about the bond so community members can understand what is being proposed, how the decision was made, and what the estimated financial impact could be.

USD 270 has completed a comprehensive review of district facilities, including a professional facilities assessment, staff input, and work by a citizen bond committee. This process identified several needs related to aging building systems, safety, accessibility, and instructional spaces.

Based on this information, the Board of Education approved a bond proposition for voter consideration.

We invite you to explore this website, ask questions, and attend open house events to learn more about the bond proposal.
